Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is warning today that Iran is ready to fill the power vacum inside Iraq, once the US leaves the scene.
He hopes to divide Iraq up between the religious/political spheres of Iran and Saudi Arabia. Another good reason why the US and its allies should hang tough in the region.
Just this past Monday, French president Nicolas Sarkozy went on the record saying that: ” a diplomatic push by the world’s powers to rein in Tehran’s nuclear program was the only alternative to “an Iranian bomb or the bombing of Iran.”
Looks and sounds like a political chess match between by both sides, hopefully it won’t end in a draw that leaves Iran with a toehold in Iraq and a “long nuclear arm” reaching to Europe. *L* KGS
