Academics Finland Political Correctness Tomfoolery

Finnish Academic Study: Media Coverage of Islam One-Sided…….

Put this in the “you can’t make this up if your tried” category. According to researchers in the universities of Tampere and Helsinki:

“Most often Islam and related concepts and symbols are linked to terrorism and political violence abroad, the researchers say. During the period studied last February, there was little coverage of Islam as a religion and a culture.”

In modern history, ever since the Iranian revolution which brought the Ayatollah Khomenie to power –especially the fatwa that was placed on the head of Salman Rushdie– the world has been forced to deal with the phenomenon of radicalized, jihadist Islam.

OF COURSE Islam and its symbols are linked to terrorism, the only people who are currently involved in spreading an ideology –through terrorist acts– around the world….are Muslims. I find it incredible that these Finnish researchers would be baffled over the connection.

What is also ludicrous is that the YLE article mentions both terrorism and political violence as being two separate actions, but the definition of terrorism IS in fact….political violence !! DUH! How did that fact get past the gatekeepers at YLE …? LOL.

“Religious descriptions of groups and individuals were often used in contexts where references to religion were not appropriate, the researchers assert.”

OK, I get it, were back to describing any terrorist event as having been the work of non-Buddhists to satisfy the politically correct academics. More here. *L* KGS

  1. Priceless. Just when you think it isn’t possible that the academic community could be any more inane- they surprise you!

  2. How come they’re not criticizing the lack of coverage of Jewish religion and culture? Not the Zionism-as-Racism version. As for coverage of Buddhism, Hinduism, Shintoism, Jainism, Sikhism, animism…I wouldn’t know.
