Any doubt lingering over whether Iran is actively involved in supplying both weapons and high grade explosives to terrorist/Islamist groups in the region, has been shattered. The American news network, ABC, has filed a report on an analysis obtained by ABC from a senior coalition official that shows the Iranians “in bed” with their arch enemy the Taliban. ABC:
“This is part of a considered policy,” says the analysis, “rather than the result of low-level corruption and weapons smuggling.” Iran and the Taliban had been fierce enemies when the Taliban was in power in Afghanistan, and their apparent collaboration came as a surprise to some in the intelligence community.
“I think their goal is to make it very clear that Iran has the capability to make life worse for the United States on a variety of fronts,” said Seth Jones of the Rand Institute, “even if they have to do some business with a group that has historically been their enemy.”
The coalition analysis says munitions recovered in two Iranian convoys, on April 11 and May 3, had “clear indications that they originated in Iran. Some were identical to Iranian supplied goods previously discovered in Iraq.”
We can then safely assume that the Iranian/Taliban nexus is not an anomaly, since the Syrians are actively supporting the Hizbollah –acting as a weigh station for Iranian arms headed towards Lebanon– as well as allowing the Fattah al-Islam (al-Qaida related) terror group entrance into Palestinian refugee camps.
Nothing happens inside Lebanon without the Syrians knowing (and allowing it) and so therefore, any link between the former regime of Saddam Hussein and al-Qaida or other terrorist groups has to be re-evaluated under that rubric.
Iran not only kidnaps UN mandated soldiers on the high seas, it also arrests people on fishing trips, holding them for five days before releasing them as a ..”good will gesture”. Here in Finland we have another example of just how repressive the Iranian state is, with an Iranian Kurd seeking asylum in a Finnish church. The human rights condition inside Iran is deplorable, and that alone is reason enough to demand and ensure that Iran never secures for itself a nuclear bomb.
As I have stated before, one of the main goals for the Iranian mullocracy’s drive to achieve a nuke bomb, is to ensure its own dictatorial survival while impeding any “international meddling” in its human rights violations. Destroying Israel and ushering in the “hidden Imam” is just the icing on their sordid, utopian cake.
The fanatical, pathological mullocracy in Iran, constitutes a clear and present danger to the safety of the whole world. Is the solution to the Iranian problem one of offering more carrots to the carrots already given –while they laugh– or begin to seriously contemplate the use of a very large stick? *L* KGS
Note: S R Larson observes in the comment section the Left’s & radical Islamist’s convergence.
Right on the spot as usual. But European and American leftists are in pathological denial, and the reason why they are is eloquently presented in David Horowitz’s book “Unholy Alliance”. I have never seen a better analysis of the Western left’s completely delusional idea that the theocratic terrorists and tyrants in the Middle East somehow are their ideological buddes.
