An upcoming conference to be held at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, Broad Sanctuary, London on January 20, 2007, promises to be an event worth attending. Squaring off in a debate during the conference titled “A World Civilisation or a Clash of Civilisations”, Mayor of London, Kenneth Livingston will be promoting the notion:
“…….that the multicultural city is part of creating a new concept of world civilisation that corresponds to a globalised world…….”
Dr.Daniel Pipes, Director of the Middle East Forum, an American think tank that advises US policymakers on the Middle East, will be stating his case that:
“…….there is not so much a clash of civilisations as there is one of civilisations vs. barbarism…….”
I view Dr.Pipes’ perspective to be absolutely correct and that his advice should be seriously considered by every western, and pro-western state serious about confronting the Islamist scourge . Hopefully there will be an audio pod-cast/transcript of the debate. More here. *L* KGS
