ISRAELI SHIP POSSIBLY HIT BY CHINESE MISSILE…….

CHINESE MISSLE SUPPLIED TO IRAN, AND FROM IRAN TO HIZBOLLAH
The Hizbollah strike on the Israeli warship off the coast of Beirut could have been accomplished by a sophistocated Chinese to Iran anti-ship missile.

In this case it may have been the Chinese C-701 anti-ship missle which China has supplied to Iran, and which Iran tested early in 2006. Earlier this year, Iran demonstrated its newfound missile technology from China by test-firing a new anti-ship missile during recent military exercises. The shore-launched firing of a C-701 antiship
missile was carried out by Iran during the large-scale war games.

Iranian reports described the test-firing of a “Kosar” missile during the games. China Precision Machinery Import-Export Corp. (CPMIEC) has been working for two years with its Iranian counterpart, the Aerospace Industries Organization, developing a radar-guided variant of the C-701 cruise missile. The radar-guided C-701 is designated “Kosar” by Iran. The Iranian test is the first demonstration of a radar-guided C-701, giving the small missile the capability to search and lock onto a target ship without direct control. CPMIEC sources claim the new C-701/Kosar is equipped with an advanced millimeter-wave radar seeker that can provide
high-resolution target imagery, allowing the missile to identify its target and select a specific impact
point.

If the weapon which hit the Israeli ship is the Iranian version of the Chinese anti-ship missle, that is the reason why the terrorist leader of Hizbollah could make the statement before the ship was attacked, that Israel would see its ship burning and sicking off the coast of Beirut. These always strike their targets unless appropriate counter-measures are in place. I do not know what these are, but Israel had better get some immediate equipment from the US that can defeat this missile if it was the cause of the damage to the Israeli ship. KGS
