What a Difference a Headline Makes…….

Here is an excellent example of how the Nordic press ‘soft peddles’ Arab violence while overlooking European impotence. But to be fair, the European observers know that they are not expected to do anything. I hope that Arab intimidation doesn’t cause these observers to be less ‘observant’ to attempted violations at the Rafiah crossing. All the Palestinians had to do yesterday, was to give mean stares at the observers for them to run for their lives. KGS

The gunmen who stormed the compound belong to the unstable ruling Fatah party of PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas. One of their members was killed in a clash Thursday between terrorists. After the compound was stormed, the EU’s observers stationed at the crossing quickly fled the scene in panic while the gunmen prevented vehicles from reaching the crossing….

After the compound was stormed, the EU’s observers stationed at the crossing quickly fled the scene in panic while the gunmen prevented vehicles from reaching the crossing. The observers are responsible for monitoring the crossing and enforcing the agreement between Israel and the PA on live camera transmissions of border activity.

European Union observers left the Gaza and Egyptianborder crossing at Rafah, due to the outbreak of violence. According to the representative of the EU operation, a demonstration organized outside the border station became violent and armed Palestinian men began firing into the air…..

“Our observers left for a safe area before the shooting started because the situation was unstable” said Julio de Gaurdia to the DPA news service. According to the Gaurdian, the EU observers waited until the situation calmed down and then returned back to their work.
